High Times for Heroes- Comedy Benefit Event for Veterans

May 20, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm

The Cannabis Center of Excellence (CCOE), UCANNB2B, and Patriots Helping Vets (PHV) are excited to announce a collaboration to raise awareness, funding, and – with community input – develop evidence-based education materials for Veterans and Veteran Affairs staff surrounding medical cannabis. On May 20, 2023, the collaborative will host High Times for Heroes, a night of Comedy for our Vets, from 5-11 PM at the Olio Theatre in Peabody, MA. The event will host four nationally renowned comedians, Steven Briggs, Josh Day, Corey Rodriguez, and Laura Severse, laughing among national and local MA cannabis companies, consumers, patients, and veterans.

Guests will enjoy pre-show, comedy show, and post show networking hours complete with food and drinks. Event sponsorship opportunities are available and all funds raised will increase access to medical cannabis for veterans.

Learn more, sponsor the event, and buy a ticket for yourself or for a Veteran – thank you for helping bring change for our veterans through laughter and cannabis as medicine!

Funds raised through High Times for Heroes will go towards developing evidence-based educational materials for Veterans and Veterans Affairs clinicians supported by data collected through a systematic literature review, publicly available data, and CCOE-led iCount for Veterans research study data collected from July 2022 to date. Key findings to be included: 235 veterans have joined iCount; top conditions veterans report using medical cannabis for: 46% anxiety, 42% depression, 37% PTSD, and 34% chronic pain. Among veterans reporting taking prescription medications (N=113), 62% use cannabis to reduce the use of over-the-counter or prescription medications, and among all veterans reporting, 75% report cannabis helps them have a greater or much greater quality of life. Current iCount for Veterans study partners include Undoo® and Good Chemistry. Gibby’s Garden participated in 2022.
